ABBA Party Night At Windsor Castle !

Ma'am-a-Mia! Queen allows 500 staff and guests to party at Windsor Castle with music played by an ABBA tribute band

  •  Staff and guests danced the night away at Windsor Castle to the sounds of ABBA
  • Fans dressed to match the band's era and sipped champagne for £12.50 a ticket
  • The Windsor Castle Cinema Club was recently set up for Royal Staff and guests

Her favourite song is said to be Dancing Queen – so when Her Majesty allowed 500 staff and guests to dance the night away at Windsor Castle, it’s no surprise the music was provided by an Abba tribute band.

And when it got dark, the blockbuster film Mamma Mia! which features Abba’s hits, blasted out from a giant screen.
Fans dressed in fashions from the Abba era sipped champagne and boogied the night away as guests of the Windsor Castle Cinema Club, paying £12.50 for a ticket.
The club was set up recently for Royal staff and guests and has already shown Star Wars at the castle – but to have a live band and big screen film was a first.

Tanning salon owner Erika Baker, 48, from Windsor, said: ‘Members of the Royal Household were allowed to buy tickets for themselves and guests.

'It meant lots of ordinary people from Windsor could come in for the night.'
‘Everybody was very well behaved, and once you were inside you were encouraged to really let your hair down and dance and sing.'

The Queen hires ABBA tribute band for Windsor Castle party !

The Queen opened up Windsor Castle to her 500 staff and guests for an ABBA inspired party it has been revealed.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Her Majesty gave permission for a party to be held in the castle for her hardworking staff and their guests.

For £12.50 a ticket, the party attendees were treated to a showing of the blockbuster film Mamma Mia!, as well as live music from an ABBA tribute band.

One Windsor resident told the Mail: “Members of the Royal Household were allowed to buy tickets for themselves and guests.

“It meant lots of ordinary people from Windsor could come in for the night.
“Everybody was very well behaved, and once you were inside you were encouraged to really let your hair down and dance and sing.”
The Queen is reportedly a huge fan of ABBA and loves to dance along to the music.

BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans told a friend that Her Majesty made the revelation during a dinner at Windsor Castle much to the amusement of guests.

When the song Dancing Queen came on, she apparently said: “I always try to dance when this song comes on, because I am the Queen, and I like to dance.”

Guests were said to have been surprised by the news, reacting: “My goodness me, there is the Dancing Queen.”

The 91-year-old Monarch is known to be a fan of music, and recently revealed she would love to sing.

This revelation comes from 23-year-old Laura Wright, who will be performing the National Anthem this weekend at the England versus Wales rugby match at Twickenham Stadium.

According to Ms Wright, The Queen told her that she would love to be able to sing and has even personally been told by Gary Barlow himself that it is “just a matter of learning”.

MA'AM-A Mia GIG

The Queen opens up Windsor Castle to allow Abba tribute band to perform for 500 music fans

After the concert, that took place yards from The Queen's private royal apartments, the hit film Mamma Mia, was shown on a giant screen in her Quadrangle.

THE Queen threw open the gates of Windsor Castle to allow 500 music fans in to dance the night away to an Abba tribute band — right outside her own private royal apartments.

And then when it got dark she gave permission for the hit film Mamma Mia, based on the music of Abba, to be shown on a giant screen in her Quadrangle to carry on the party.

It was no surprise the Queen gave it the thumbs up after DJ Chris Evans revealed that Abba’s Dancing Queen was her favourite song and that she was a huge fan of the group.

Hundreds of fans dressed in 1970s and 1980s costumes sipped champagne and boogied the night away as guests of the Windsor Castle Cinema Club paying £12.50 for a ticket.

The Royal Quadrangle is rarely open to the public but last month while the Queen was at Balmoral she allowed it to be opened up for household staff and their guests to enjoy.

The Windsor Castle Cinema Club was set up recently and has already shown Star Wars at the Castle — but to have a live band and big screen film is a first at the Queen’s home.

Her Majesty was dubbed the Dancing Queen by the Swede Dreamz Abba tribute band that played more than 20 of the super-group’s top hits including Mamma Mia and Waterloo.

Hits like Knowing Me Knowing You, Chiquitita, Super Trouper and Money, Money, Money reverberated off the castle walls taking their fans back to the Swedish band’s heyday.

ABBA Swedish Trading Cards - Filmisar

I am often asked about the Swedish Trading Cards so I thought I should do a post about them.

Unlike Trading Cards from other countries, the Swedish Cards are not actually just ABBA.

There are 1000 cards in this series of cards.
And the series contains cards of hundreds of artists, not just ABBA.
They were a 'POP' series released in Sweden.

Others artists include Olivia Newton John, Village People, John Travolta, Bob Marley - just to name a few.

Actual ABBA cards in the set is 91 and it is possible that there are more. I don't have all cards pictured yet, but working on it ūüėÄ

These cards are different to sets from other countries also as they are very small - 4.5 x 7cm.
In comparison, Australian Trading Cards measure 6 x 8.5cm.
They were able to include many pictures from the 1977 Tour which is lovely to see.
What a shame they aren't normal size !
And no bubblegum with these ones.

Some of the cards have 'Universaltryck Grafiska AB' written across the top while others do not.

The cards came in two types of packaging.

This first type of packaging contained ABBA as well as other artists - 'Collector Image Cards' and were released in the 80's, hence the later images of ABBA:

The second type of packaging  - 'World Famous Favourites' were released in the 70's:

Here are 70 of the ABBA cards that are currently in my collection - still searching for the rest ūüė≤

Below these ones you will find images of the other 21 cards.

These are the cards not pictured above - and still needed in my collection - if there are others that I have missed, please share :)

Number on this one to be confirmed

Mamma Mia! The Party - New Restaurant Plans - Bjorn

Hit wins the Björn Ulvaeus billion empire

The successes of Björn Ulvaeus billion empire continue.

In June, his company, Pop House, Cirkus bought at Djurgården - now plans to buy this Abba member to build a house in London where "Mamma Mia the party" will be held.

"Five minutes from Waterloo station, we will build a house that will open sometime 2019. It's a great thing," says Björn Ulvaeus.

The year was 1972 when Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad started giving out their music. Two years later, the group formed the name ABBA, which became one of the world's most famous bands.

And the success of ABBA ended not only because the band was playing the tournament on the shelf - on the contrary. The musical "Mamma Mia" based on the group's songs has become a world success. Also the movie with the same name.

Soon, the second "Mamma Mia" film - a project Björn Ulvaeus will be involved in.

"I'm very involved when it comes to casting. Benny has been in the studio recently, and myself I will go to London and record. It's a kidding project, says Björn Ulvaeus.

Björn Ulvaeus involved in more "Mamma Mia" projects.

In addition to the fact that Björn Ulvaeus owns properties for almost SEK 20 million and had an acquisition income of 2.4 million in 2015, there are billions in Ulvaeus companies.

He owns 70 percent of Kopparnäset AB, which in turn has 24 companies - one of them is MM! The Party AB. And "Mamma Mia" has become a huge brand, where Björn Ulvaeus gets his delicious piece of succé cake worth a million.

"I can not say how much, but some of course comes," says Ulvaeus, and continues:

"It's exciting how the brand" Mamma Mia "has grown - with both the stage music and the movies. And now, "Mamma Mia! The Party" that goes for sold out houses in Stockholm, and I'm getting to London, says Björn Ulvaeus.

He tells us that there is currently a planning process in the South Bank of London about Mamma Mia! The Party. "

"We will build a house five minutes from Waterloo station where" Mamma Mia! The Party "opens sometime 2019. And it works that's how it works everywhere I can imagine - it's a great thing, says Björn Ulvaeus.

Ulvaeus about Circus: "Will be fun to put your teeth on"

But the former ABBA member also has big plans at home in Sweden. In June Ulvaeus bought company, Pop House, Circus on Djurgården.

"I just do the way I think it's great fun and this with Circus fits so well into Pop House, which also owns the ABBA Museum. So I'm looking forward to working with Cirkus content with other actors and that Pop House and I produce their own stuff. It will be a joke to put your teeth in it, "concludes Björn Ulvaeus.

Bjorn Visits B & B Bench - Where It All Started !

Björn Ulvaeus is back where everything started - on a bench in Linköping.

There he met Benny Andersson - and it was the start of 51 successful years with ABBA and his own projects like Mamma Mia.

Now he looks back - and tells us how the Abba members meet today.

"We all saw each other not a long time ago," he says.

On June 5, 1966, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson met at a bench in Linköping. The duo was on tour with their respective bands - Hootenanny Singers and Hep Stars - and jammed together on a bench in the park Slottsparken in the city.
It was the start of one of the most successful chapters in Swedish music history - ABBA, phenomenal success with Mamma Mia and a series of side projects.

Last year, the duo was honored for their efforts with a new bench next to the place where they met 51 years ago. The bench plays music and on Thursday, Björn Ulvaeus visited the site.

"If we had not met here, I would definitely have chosen another course in my life. It's one of those things that has been completely fundamental in my life," he says.
Björn Ulvaeus: "Absolutely fundamental"

Björn and Benny began to record music and then involved their respective partners, including the artists Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The super group ABBA was a fact and celebrated great success with hits like "Waterloo" and "Mamma Mia".

Björn and Agnetha got two children together but divorced in 1979. ABBA dissolved in 1982 - but the quartet is still meeting.

"We met not a long time ago. It's only a month since we met all four. We had a meeting about a project called Virtual ABBA, says Björn Ulvaeus.

The ABBA members still meet.
Björn Ulvaeus is glad that they can work together - and that the contact between all ABBA members is so good.
"It is very nice that we have been able to be good friends all four of us. You often read about bands that have become bitter enemies. But we have been able to avoid it altogether. On the contrary, we all feel a gratitude and humility that it became like it became, without realizing why I believe.

HERE ABBA WAS BORN

Linköping "My life had become completely different if we had not met here." 51 and 400 million sold records later, Björn Ulvaeus and his guitar returned to the venue next to the old Hotel Rally where he met Benny, and Abba was born. But was it really on a bench, and in Linköping? The big board in the Best Western Hotel at the intersection Drottninggatan and Storgatan tells the story of how Björn and Benny Andersson met. A long text completely without the term "bench"."If we sat on a bench or sat leaning against one of the oaks tribes, as I remember, it may not play such a big part. But we played Beatles songs, we did, "explains Björn Ulvaeus.According to the waitress "Fröjdis" who drove out the long-haired boys for her to go for breakfast, it was under a syrenium.- Things rarely become concrete here but there is no doubt about the matter. It was here we met, unlikely but true. It feels very omnipotent to stand here, said an obviously touched world star in the castle park.In fact, Björn and Benny, Hootenanny Singers and Hep Stars, actually met in the afternoon outside a party venue in Falköping."Our car was on their way out and their in so we just said" hello hello "and so we asked if they would like to come to our farewell party at Hotel Rally in Linköping that evening."Sure," they said, and then we were separated. In the evening, Hep Stars called and asked where we were home for now they were in Lidköping. They threw themselves in the car and burned here."All night I sat and Benny and played Beatles songs on the guitar. If we then asked to leave the hotel or became kicked out, I did not remember but we ended up in the park under a tree. The memory slots can be explained that it was 51 years ago and alcohol was consumed at the party. The morning after, Björn pulled into the lump without sleeping a single nap at night. A week later, they wrote their first song together. As Hep Stars recorded."I'm really sorry that I could not get to the opening of the bench (June 5 last year) because I really wanted to. Now it was so good when I went to Västervik and watched my apartment in Slottsholmen just finished. My daughter Anna is in the Visfestival and then I will visit my sister Eva who lives in our parents' old summer house."I think the bench is really nice and it's a little moving initiative. I am grateful to both the city of Linköping and the others who pushed the issue of a bench.Björn and Benny are still "very best friends"."We continue to work closely together. Right now we are working with the movie "Mamma Mia 2" and are also writing brand new material.
